Henderson Health and Science Magnet School

Henderson Health and Science Magnet School (Little Rock School District) needed a new image to define its mission. Herron Horton Architects suggested renovating the exterior of the school by incorporating a new entry canopy made out of Polygal columns and a metal roof. The Polygal columns provide signage and are lit at dusk to help identify the entry. We also saw the need to express images of health and science on a new patterned-blue background to further emphasize the school’s mission.

We renovated the existing bathrooms by designing a new ceiling system, incorporating graffiti-proof toilet partitions, new resinous floors, new automatic faucets and new soap dispensers integrated with new sinks and automatic flush valves at the toilets. The paint color was changed and more light above the translucent ceiling panels was added to help the space feel larger.
