Jennifer is a graduate of Little Rock Central High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Kansas School of Architecture and Urban Design. While studying architecture at KU, Jennifer also pursued her interest in photography through independent study with Professor Pok Chi Lau at the University of Kansas Department of Fine Arts.

Jennifer is a registered architect in the State of Arkansas and a member of the American Institute of Architects.

After practicing architecture in the San Francisco Bay area and in Little Rock, Jennifer founded Herron Horton Architects with Jeff Horton. Jennifer believes architecture is about people and has a curiosity about how people use space and how they relate to their surroundings. She has a passion for telling stories through photography. Through many years of doing this, she has realized it has enriched her sensitivity to light, environmental conditions of a space and how conditions affect the human spirit. She can’t help but incorporate these sensitivities into the design process.

She enjoys collaborative interaction with clients as well as the people in the office. She draws energy and inspiration from the people she works with and the place she works.

She values her children, their future and respects their sense of intuition and sensibilities.

She admires architect Samuel Mockbee, who started the Rural Studio in Hale County, Alabama. He believed the best way to make real architecture was by letting a building evolve out of the culture and place in order to express its honesty.

Jeff, a native of the Kansas City, Missouri, area, earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Kansas School of Architecture and Urban Design. During his studies at the University of Kansas, he was awarded a scholarship to study at the School of Architecture at the University of Dortmund in Dortmund, Germany. There, he was able to further pursue his interest in how buildings are put together. He thrives on the details of the building and believes details are the essence of the building design. He strongly believes in keeping the firm and himself updated on technology and building materials.

Jeff is a registered architect with the State of Arkansas. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the National Council of Architectural Registration Board.

Jeff has another passion: oil painting. Many people ask him what he likes to paint and, for him, it isn’t so much about the end product as it is about the process. With his paintings, he explores three-dimensional space through the use of vibrant color and lines. He gravitates to designs by Miller Hull Architects in Seattle, Washington, because of their innovative use of materials. Alberto Giacometti and Amsel Keifer are both painters who Jeff looks to for inspiration with art.
